It is always a privilege to see matriculants passing and getting distinctions but are the subjects they are doing worthwhile? Which school subject prepares a learner for law? How will doing Life Sciences help an aspiring businessman? A lot of the time, we find that students are pressured by their parents to become doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc that when they get to university, they end up changing courses or dropping out because high school didn’t prepare them enough for their degrees. Obviously this isn’t the case for all high school subjects as doing Physical Sciences and Mathematics helps with engineering and doing IT helps with computer science but how will a student know they are good at IT if their school has no computers? How does excelling in Physical Sciences boost the chances of a student becoming a great accountant one day? So does high school prepare students for university?
