The State of Nation Address (SONA) 2017 highlights the frustration people have towards Jacob Zuma still being president of South Africa. The EFF leader, Julius Malema, raises good points and questions that many citizens want answers to but is not taken seriously because of the ‘lack of respect’ towards Zuma. He and the EFF continuously spoke as Zuma was proceeding with SONA and inevitably disrupted the proceedings. DA leader, Mmusi Maimane, then spoke and addressed the same issue the EFF addressed – how can someone be a president if they have abridged the constitution? How is it that people are still supporting Zuma after the findings of the Nkandla report?Even though his term is ending soon, it is quite evident that people would prefer it if it happened sooner, preferably if he resigns. Should we wait for his term to end or should he be gone sooner?
