Mandela Day, 18 July, has past us and we have dedicated 67 minutes to doing good for somebody else as a tribute to the late Nelson Mandela. Where some of us are doing 67 minutes, our president Jacob Zuma had asked us to use this day to help fight poverty. Out of all people to ask for such a deed its Zuma. This is the same man who used R250 000 000 of our tax money to fund his Nkandla house. If that’s not enough, the government used R3 000 000 of our taxes again to fund the Gupta’s wedding. Then this same man asks us to help fight poverty. How? We give him money to do that yet he lavishes on it. How do we fight poverty if he’s not using the money given to him to do so?
